The Place Gym was founded in 2006 by Andrew Gendall. Andrew is a keen sport enthusiast and after graduating from the Holmes Place Personal Training academy in London (UK), with more than a decade of working in the fitness industry, he decided to open a facility that focused on functional training.

Functional Training is based on the concept of training the human body using natural everyday movements as the basis for exercise. We move, stretch, and flex our muscles everyday doing day-to-day activities.

Today many gyms and personal trainers rely on machines to create workouts for their clients. Many of these machines re-create movements that are very limiting!

At The Place Gym we don’t rely on machines for the workout but rather encourage the client to use their own body as the basis of the workout.

This method increases the range of movement (R O M) of your joints and muscles resulting in a challenging strenuous workout- a workout that is both physically and mentally challenging. Put simply, it’s about training your body in the way it is designed to move!

At the PLACE, we believe that the future of exercise lies in the power and potential of our own bodies. We thoroughly assess the fitness of all our clients, establish their goals and use a combination of free weights, the latest functional training equipment and core stability exercises to create unique functional training programs. Our clients are encouraged to push their strength and fitness to new levels achieving their health and fitness goals.

At the PLACE we offer three fully functional private gyms ensuring that you have total privacy while training, a cardio room, an assessment room, changing facilities, fit vibe room and a beauty massage facility!

‘Our goal is to make sure you achieve your goals AND have fun doing it!’

Healthier LIFESTYLE!

Exercise is a major factor in the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle. Among its proven benefit’s are:

1. Increased cardiovascular and respiratory efficiency
2. Decreased risk of coronary heart disease
3. Changes in Body metabolism (decreased level of obesity)
4. Delay physiological effects of aging
5. Stress relief
6. Improved strength levels
7. Improvements in balance, posture and co-ordination
8. Improved proprioception
9. Increased self confidence
10. Increased energy levels

The result of a sustained exercise programme would be clearly evident in the performance of staff members. An improvement in individuals’ health would lead to a decrease of sick days, being able to handle an increase in workload and improvements in general productivity. These factors have an impact on business and the well being of staff members. Investing in ways to improve their environment is vital in order to reach business targets, deadlines and goals!

Our Programs, and the equipment we focus on using, are all part of functional training. They are extremely effective, physically and mentally challenging, and result in our clients feeling stimulated and having a sense of achievement!
